Taylor Swift Contributes $5 Million for Hurricane Milton and Helene Relief Efforts
Taylor Swift has generously contributed $5 million to aid those impacted by Hurricanes Milton and Helene. Feeding America's CEO, Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, expressed profound gratitude for the singer's substantial donation on Wednesday through a statement on their Instagram page. "This donation will assist communities in reconstruction and recovery, ensuring access to essential food, clean water, and necessary supplies for those affected by these catastrophic storms," the statement declared. "Together, we can significantly aid families as they face upcoming challenges."
Babineaux-Fontenot extended her appreciation to Swift for "aligning with us in the fight against hunger and supporting communities in distress." This donation is particularly timely as Hurricane Milton advances toward Florida’s Gulf Coast, anticipated to make landfall Wednesday evening. Forecasters warn it could be one of the most destructive storms in the region's history.
A mere fortnight ago, Helene struck Florida as a fierce Category 4 hurricane. It carved a path of ruin spanning 500 miles across six states, resulting in catastrophic flooding and a death toll exceeding 230. Helene ranks as the second most lethal hurricane to hit the US mainland in the past half-century, trailing only Hurricane Katrina from nearly 20 years ago.
Swift is joined by country music icon Dolly Parton in the hurricane relief efforts. Parton revealed on Friday her collaboration with Walmart and her enterprises, including Dollywood Parks & Resorts, The Dollywood Foundation, Dolly Parton’s Stampede, and Pirates Voyage, to support flood relief in the Appalachian region. She also committed a personal donation of $1 million to the Mountain Ways Foundation, a charity focused on immediate aid for Helene flood victims. Several of Parton’s businesses are pooling resources to match her donation to Mountain Ways with an additional $1 million contribution.
