Shawn Mendes shares he's still exploring his sexuality

During his Colorado concert on Monday, Shawn Mendes paused to confront a deeply personal matter. A video circulating on social media captures the 26-year-old artist as he candidly addresses “the truth” about his sexuality amidst his Red Rocks Amphitheatre performance.

"From a young age, there’s been constant chatter about my sexuality," he shared with the audience, reminiscing about his journey that began at age 15 in the music industry. "I find it rather absurd because sexuality is such an exquisitely intricate aspect of our being, defying simplistic categorization."

The Canadian musician elaborated: "It always seemed like an intrusion into something profoundly personal, an exploration within myself that remains ongoing."

"The unvarnished truth about my life and my sexuality is that I’m navigating it just like anyone else," Mendes confessed. "Sometimes clarity eludes me, other times it doesn’t. It’s daunting, given the societal commentary that surrounds us."

The adored performer expressed his intent to open up now as a means to foster a deeper connection with his audience.

"I’m striving for courage, allowing myself the vulnerability to experience emotions," Mendes remarked. "And that’s all I wish to convey on this matter for the present."

Previously, Mendes has been romantically linked to singer Camila Cabello and Hailey Bieber, before her marriage to Justin Bieber. His latest self-titled album is set to release on November 15.
