Olivia Rodrigo recounts the 'frightening' incident of falling through a stage hole during a performance
Olivia Rodrigo embarked on a grand world tour, which she described as enjoyable, despite an incident that captured media attention.
During her recent visit to "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Fallon mentioned how Rodrigo "managed it like a true professional" after she accidentally fell through an opening on the stage during her performance in Melbourne, Australia, earlier this month.
Fallon proceeded to display the footage of the mishap.
"Oh my goodness, that was entertaining! I'm completely fine! Sometimes, there's just an unexpected gap on stage. It's no big deal," Rodrigo reassured the audience.
She beamed widely after viewing the clip and even let out a small laugh.
"It was quite frightening," Rodrigo admitted. "Watching the recording is pretty daunting. But, the show must continue, that's the essence of show business."
She reflected on the incident as "actually somewhat a beautiful occurrence," especially since it happened shortly after her visit to the Philippines, where her roots lie.
"I was contemplating my ancestry and my family when I had the fall, and it really shook me," she recounted. "I went to the hospital afterward. Fortunately, nothing was wrong, but they wanted to ensure I didn't have a concussion."
The attending nurse at the hospital happened to be Filipino and shared the same name as her late grandfather, who had passed away a few months earlier.
"So, I thought, wow, that was my grandfather watching over me," she remarked. "Ensuring I remained unharmed, and it fills me with gratitude that it happened. It's a touching tale.
