Country music luminary Garth Brooks finds himself embroiled in a legal quagmire, facing accusations of sexual assault and battery from a "Jane Roe," a former hairstylist and makeup artist in his employ. The lawsuit, lodged in a California state court and accessed by CNN, alleges the incidents transpired in 2019. Roe accuses Brooks of raping her during a professional trip.

Brooks has previously repudiated these allegations, although his representatives have yet to provide a statement in response to Roe's freshly filed lawsuit. Before Roe's legal action, CNN had reported an anonymous celebrity—now revealed as Brooks—attempted to prevent Roe from vocalizing her accusations, vehemently denying them under the pseudonym "John Doe."

Roe's association with Brooks began in 2017, according to her legal documents, though she was initially hired for his wife, Trisha Yearwood, in 1999. CNN has sought comments from Yearwood's camp. The lawsuit expands beyond sexual assault, accusing Brooks of indecent exposure, inappropriate discussions about sex, and sending explicit messages.

In a specific 2019 incident, Roe alleges Brooks emerged from the shower unclothed, forced her hands onto his genitals, and used lewd language. Another episode in May 2019 claims Brooks raped Roe in a hotel room during a Los Angeles work trip. The details suggest Roe was isolated with Brooks on his private jet and subsequently found herself in a suite with a singular bedroom.

Following the alleged assault, Roe contends Brooks continued to harass her with unwanted advances and explicit conversations, even suggesting a threesome involving his wife. As John Doe, Brooks countered these claims, stating that Roe’s legal representative sent a "confidential" letter accusing him of misconduct after he refused her demand for employment benefits.

Brooks' previous lawsuit insists that Roe's claims are false and emphasizes the potential destruction to his reputation, family, and career if the allegations were publicized. Responding, Roe’s legal team criticized Brooks' Mississippi lawsuit as an act of intimidation. They expressed confidence in holding Brooks accountable and commended their client's bravery in confronting Brooks, underscoring the presence of sexual predators across various industries, including country music.

The situation remains dynamic and subject to further updates.
