Keanu Reeves Takes on Professional Auto Racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Keanu Reeves is accelerating his journey in the world of professional auto racing. Over the weekend, the "Matrix" star participated in the Toyota GR Cup at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a series catering to amateur racers and car aficionados. Among 33 competitors, Reeves secured the 25th position in Saturday's Race 1, improving slightly to 24th in Sunday's Race 2.
During Saturday's race, Reeves had a moment of drama when he spun into the grass midway through the 45-minute contest. Fortunately, he managed to avoid any collisions and remained unharmed, rejoining the race soon after. Piloting the No. 92 BRZRKR vehicle, his car paid homage to his graphic novel "The Book of Elsewhere," co-authored with China Miéville. Released in July, the novel is a continuation of Reeves' BRZRKR comic book saga, which began in 2021.
Joining him on Saturday was Cody Jones, known for his role in "Dude Perfect." Back in 2009, the "Speed" icon clinched victory at the Long Beach Toyota Grand Prix’s celebrity race.
"Speed," the film in which Reeves stars with Sandra Bullock, marks its 30th anniversary with a special screening in Los Angeles on Tuesday, set to be attended by both Bullock and Reeves.
