Barbra Streisand Reflects on the 'Charming' Kris Kristofferson
Barbra Streisand is honoring her “A Star Is Born” co-star Kris Kristofferson, who passed away over the weekend at 88. In an Instagram post, Streisand reminisced about their artistic collaboration. "The first time I witnessed Kris perform at the Troubadour club in L.A., I realized he was extraordinary," Streisand shared. "Barefoot with his guitar, he seemed ideal for a script I was developing, which ultimately became ‘A Star Is Born.’"
The 1976 rendition, depicting a budding singer's romance with a rock star, captivated both critics and audiences. The film's song “Evergreen,” sung by Streisand and Kristofferson, clinched the Academy Award for best original song. "For my 2019 concert at London’s Hyde Park, I invited Kris to join me on stage for our other duet from the film, “Lost Inside Of You.” He retained his charm, and the crowd showered him with applause," Streisand recalled. "Witnessing him bask in the love and acknowledgment he rightfully earned was a delight."
Kristofferson's musical ventures also include the 1982 double album “The Winning Hand” alongside Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, and Brenda Lee, not to mention his performances with Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings as the Highwaymen. Streisand ended her message with a note to Kristofferson’s family. "My thoughts are with Kris’ wife, Lisa, who I know supported him in every conceivable manner.
