Al Pacino calls becoming a father at 84 a 'small miracle'
Al Pacino relishes the experience of being a father in his later years. The iconic thespian shared insights into his fatherhood journey, including his bond with 16-month-old Roman, whom he shares with producer Noor Alfallah, during a conversation with People. "Having children is simply marvelous," remarked the 84-year-old patriarch. "For me, it was a delight," Pacino reflected. "It transformed me, for the better if I may say so. It altered my life. The notion of dedicating your attention to other beings who are your progeny... there lies the affection."
He also cherishes his roles as a father to Julie, 34, with acting mentor Jan Tarrant, and twins Anton and Olivia, 23, with actress Beverly D’Angelo. The star of "The Godfather" mused about welcoming a new child as an octogenarian. "Well, it’s consistently the same. It’s consistently the same," he observed. "It's a tiny marvel. That’s all I can express."
Pacino has penned a memoir, "Sonny Boy." In a recent dialogue with the New York Times, he mentioned that his youngest offspring inspired him to write the book. "Certainly, that's among the reasons," he acknowledged. "And it has spurred a campaign for me to linger a bit longer, if fate allows." "Sonny Boy" is slated for release on October 15.
