'Abbott Elementary' Teams Up with 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' for a Crossover Episode
Two iconic Philadelphia-based television series are joining forces. Quinta Brunson, the star and visionary behind "Abbott Elementary," alongside Rob McElhenney, the star and co-creator of "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia," have announced their collaboration on a crossover episode via social media.
Brunson teased fans with a captioned photo featuring herself, McElhenney, and Charlie Day from "Sunny," stating, “Season 4 of Abbott Elementary gets real Sunny :).” Meanwhile, McElhenney’s Instagram stories showcased an image of the ensemble, including Danny DeVito from "Sunny" and "Abbott" actors Tyler James Williams and William Stanford Davis, standing before the "Abbott" school set.
Both sitcoms are firmly rooted in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Earlier this year, McElhenney alluded to "Abbott" in a post about a Willy Wonka-themed immersive experience. He remarked, “Many of you say this feels like an episode of Sunny, but to me, it's more of an @alwayssunny @AbbottElemABC crossover episode,” he shared on X.
Brunson captured his post, replying eagerly, “Just say the word @robmcelhenney. I love you guys.”
"Abbott" delves into the lives of educators at an inner-city elementary school, while "Sunny" chronicles the antics of friends managing a dive bar in South Philadelphia. Details regarding the crossover episode’s storyline or broadcast date remain under wraps.
